IIS provides an SMTP Server log that can record extended information during inbound reception and outbound transmission sessions. This is configured using the IIS Manager or Exchange Administration by viewing the SMTP Server properties.
Make certain that you check Active
log format of W3C Extended
Log File Format. You
can also press to select other settings including the location
where these log files will be placed.
In the above example, the path to the log file will be C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\SMTPSvc1 and have the date-based file name of exyymmdd.log. For example, the log entries for June 23, 2004 will be found in:
C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\SMTPSvc1\ex040623.log
On the Extended Properties tab, please be sure to select all the available properties. This will be useful when the CMS support technician assists you in tracing message delivery problems.
